Farrell Hughes, age 89 of Burnsville, went home on Sunday, July 11th, 2021 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born February 6th, 1932 in the Brush Creek Community to the late Fonze and Susie Fox Hughes. He began working as a young man logging with his father in the mountains near his childhood home.

The Pleasure Walking Horse association of Tennessee (PWHAT) is announcing a new Scholarship Program for our youth members. The PWHAT Scholarship Program is being developed to provide financial assistance to our youth members seeking to earn a higher education degree. This scholarship program will make annual awards to selected youth applicants within the PWHAT membership.

During this year’s Money Tree Classic, the Walking Horse Trainers’ Auxiliary presented their annual scholarship to six worthy recipients. The scholarships were presented by program chairs, Kari Tisma and Beth Thomas. The 2021 recipients were Ashlyn Avent, Alex Blackburn, Jayden Jackson, Taylor Legate, Cali Mason and Hailey Puckett.
