The Walking Horse Trainers’ Association held a  membership meeting on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 prior to the Spring Fun Show. The meeting started at 4:00pm.

The meeting was opened with President Mickey McCormick speaking and updating the trainers on basic information. He did notify the trainers that 166 letters of warning for foreign substance had been issued by the USDA. Mickey did tell the trainers he had looked into all the warnings and that he found none of the swabs to show any masking or soaring agents.

Swabbing will be done for the rest of the 2013 show season. He said, “They wanted scientific inspections and we need our swabbing program improved. The USDA has zero tolerance and there is always contamination present and we need to find a realistic medium.”

Marcia Allison has served the Walking Horse Trainers Association for 21 years. The trainers thanked her for her service. She also let the trainers know that the Gulf Coast Trainers Show in Panama City, Florida made $25,000 and that the Trainers cleared $53,000.

PRIDE did not leave PSHA but Heart Of America did stated Mickey. Then McCormick was asked, “what is the penalty for showing at a show that isn’t under the PSHA HIO?” He answered that their trainer’s license would be removed for six months. This penalty will not affect Pleasure Horses, Racking or Spotted horses only Performance Horses.
