Obituary – William J. Reinhart

William J. Reinhart, age 78, of Shelbyville TN, passed away unexpectedly at his farm on August 8, 2013. A memorial service, open to family and friends, will be held at his farm on August 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm.

Mr. Reinhart was a Tennessee Walking Horse owner, a staunch advocate of the breed and an author of numerous related editorials.
Born to the late George Reinhart and Jewell Dutton Reinhart of Birmingham Alabama on December 24, 1934, Mr. Reinhart was married to the late Judith Frank Reinhart for 19 years.

Mr. Reinhart served in the U.S. Army – Airborne Artillery from 1954 – 1956, earned a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from the University of Alabama in 1960, followed by a Masters Degree in Public Administration and Economics. Mr. Reinhart’s work experience spanned 1960 – 1995 and included: assistant professorship – University of Tampa, budget analyst – Miami Dade Co. Florida, Assistant Comptroller – State of TN under William Snodgrass and Frank Clement, Director of Model Cities Program under Mayor Beverly Briley, Policy Consultant – U.S. Conference of Mayors in Washington DC and service as a private consulting specialist in Federal, State and City regulatory systems. Mr. Reinhart owned and managed Walking Horse training barns from 1982 until his death. During retirement, Mr. Reinhart enjoyed fishing, staying abreast of current news and playing bluegrass music on banjo and guitar.

Mr. Reinhart is survived by his daughter, Renee Lowery (Dr. J.A. Lowery) and one grandson, Alex Collins of Fairview, Tennessee.
