Obituary- Michael Jones

Michael Alban Jones passed away on Thursday, January 27th, peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann, son Douglas (Carla), daughter Beth and grandson Tyson, brother Tommy, sisters Molly, Gail, Patty and Della and numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael was born in 1940 to Willard and Elizabeth Jones in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Upper Arlington High School, Denison University and graduated with a degree in Finance from Ohio State University. Michael was a devoted Buckeye football fan and remained one for the rest of his life. His professional career brought him to Georgia where he held different positions, mostly in the carpet industry. He retired to the farm and enjoyed many years, raising Tennessee Walking Horses, notably the 2008 World Grand Champion Santana’s El Nino, working the farm and growing large gardens. The later years were filled with the love of his Belgian sheepdogs and raising several champion show dogs. He shared a special bond with GCHS Sans Brancos Ultimatum RN, his beloved Bronco whom he showed for several years.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held March, 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Wallis Wilbanks Funeral Home, 121 West Villanow Street, LaFayette, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. His was a life well lived, filled with humor and laughter. He will be missed by all who knew him.
