Obituary- Jimmy Ray Cox

Jimmy Ray Cox, age 75, of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly of Hindman, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022, at his home in Lexington.

He was born at Garrett, Kentucky on January 24, 1947 to Dallis Cox and Victoria Inman Cox.
Jimmy graduated from Garrett High School in 1964. He then went on to play basketball for East Carolina University and graduated in 1968. He coached High School Basketball at Wayland High School, June Buchanan High School and Knott County Central High School. He was a member of Hindman United Methodist Church where he served as a Lay Minister. He was also a member of the Hindman Lions Club and President and CEO of Casey’s Foods.

Survivors include a daughter Nicole (Thad) Manning; sons Martin (Jennifer Bingham) Cox, Tyler (Sydney) Cox and Tate (Peyton) Cox; grandchildren Star Manning, Houston Manning and Clay Cox.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dallis and Victoria Cox, a step mother Olive Cox and brother Bobby Cox.

Funeral services for Mr. Cox were held at Hindman Funeral Services Chapel, on February 3, 2022, with Mike Powers officiating. Entombment followed at Bethel Memorial Mausoleum in Hindman.
