Mrs. Baum was a great ambassador for the Tennessee Walking Horse industry and was very active in the Wisconsin show circuit for several years. For many decades, she inspired people of all ages, displaying her love of the Tennessee Walking Horse. This passion was demonstrated as she continued showing in her early 90’s, most specifically with equine partner, Walk On Command. Her enthusiasm for her horses was shared as she served the Walking Horse community as a board member of the Walking Horse Owners’ Association and as a correspondent for the Walking Horse Report.

Her work in the industry did not go unnoticed. She was inducted into the Celebration Hall of Fame in 2008. She was also honored with a special presentation at the 2016 Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, riding Walk On Command. Other notable horses she was involved with included Regal Master, Love That Showboat, My Fair Play Lady, On Good Behavior, Ichabod Crane, Sir John Pryor, Pusher’s Firestone, Stroking On Sunday, Pride’s Different Strokes and Pushers Pure Delight.

Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Karen H Baum; sons, Dr. James Leo Baum and Jeffrey David Baum, as well as three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Wandering Acres Farm with John Gilmore officiating. The Scoop sends our warmest condolences to the Baum Family.
