Obituary – Gayle Watson

Murray Gayle Watson, 77, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020. Gayle is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anita Watson, his two daughters Kim Watson (Greg) and Gayla Kail (Ben), grandchildren Jacob Watson (Demi), Logan and Connor Johnston, Maggie, Jada, Jack, and Clay Kail, great-grand daughter Jersey Watson. Gayle had many nieces and nephews that he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Lyndell Parlo0w Watson, his son Roger Gayle Watson, infant daughter Mary Jo Watson, his brother Donald Watson, and his sister Myrna Loy McClain.

Gayle was a lifelong member of the Crockett Mills community and a member of Providence Baptist Church. He and Anita successfully owned and operated Watson Roofing Company for 30 years. In recent years, Gayle enjoyed attending to his rental properties. The relationships Gayle developed with the many people he encountered during his time on this earth were countless and what he lived for. Gayle loved meeting and talking to all people.

Gayle was a man with many hobbies and interest through the years. Anyone that knew Gayle knew his true passion was his grandkids. Whether it was to ballgames or practices, walking horse shows, hunting or fishing, pizza or lunch at Tate’s, cooking crab legs, riding to the bottom, shooting turtles, sitting outside haunted houses, taking kids to the races or taking kids to any event they wanted to go to Granddaddy was ready to go and he loved every minute of it.

A Celebration of Life was held at the Crockett Mills Community Center on Thursday, November 5th.

Pallbearers were Jack Kail, Clay Kail, Logan Johnston, Connor Johnston, Ben Kail, Greg Allen, Alan Whitby, Steve Park, Bubba Argo. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Prescott, Harold Tharpe, Danny Milam, Franklin Turnage, Larry Johnson, Frank Brasfield, Craig Laman, Danny Cobb, Eddie Whitby, Stephen Stutts
