Obituary – Charles Burton Howard

Charles “Charlie” Howard, a resident of Rutherford County, Tennessee passed away November 5, 2019 at Vanderbilt Hospital. He was 68 years old. He was born in Lackey, Kentucky to parents Burton and Georgia Turner Howard. He taught school at Hindman High School in Hindman, Kentucky, as well as, Lebanon and Blackman High Schools in Tennessee. Charles was an avid Tennessee Walking Horse enthusiast. He started coming to Murfreesboro in 1970 and since then, annually attended the International Grand Championships and the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration until his recent illness.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brothers, Jerome Paul Howard, Ralph Gordon Howard, Earl Thomas Howard; a sister, Suette Howard King; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved Walking Horse, Mercedes.

A memorial service will be set for a later date.
