Obituary – Butch Pendarvis

Carol Gordon “Butch” Pendarvis, age 79, of Shelbyville, Tennessee, passed from this life on Friday, June 30, 2023 at home under the care of his family and Hospice Compassus after an extended illness.

Born March 21, 1944, in Adel, Georgia, Butch was the son of the late Gordon & Vesta Fletcher Pendarvis.

Butch was a farrier by trade specializing in Tennessee Walking Horses. His profession took him all across the United States. During his 50+ year career, his hardwork and talent helped him form many working partnerships and lasting friendships. In his spare time at home in Bedford County, he enjoyed farm work, anything from working cattle to cutting hay, as long as he was outside.

He was survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Brandy Carter Pendarvis of Shelbyville; children, Craig (Karen) Pendarvis of FL, Cynthia (David) Perry of FL, Carol Pendarvis of FL, Cristi Pendarvis of FL, Ashley (Matt) Gordon of Shelbyville, Heather (Scott) Meares of Petersburg and Brittany (Chris) Bell of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Jessica, Stephanie, Andrew, Joseph (Magan) Levenson, Tiffany & Garrett Smith, Paigelynn & Devon Pendarvis, Ashlyn Grace Brazell, Kasen Butch Pendarvis, Tyley Ruth Reavis, Laine Sutton, Jameson Matthew and Lainey James Gordon, Dalton (Amanda) Ray and Trace Bell; 13 great grandchildren; and sister, Jacqueline Teeter of FL, along with a nieces and nephew.

Memorial Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2023, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to memorial service on Sunday, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association at www.heart.org .
