R.V. “Beaver” Young of Sparta, Tennessee passed away on May 16, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. Mr. Young is the father of horse trainer Randy Young. He served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam. Following his military service he was able to fulfill his lifelong passion of training Tennessee Walking Horses at D&R Stables – owned by the Donald Richards Family.
Even though training horses was his job, they brought him a source of relaxation. He traveled to horse shows all over from Wisconsin to Florida and all the states in between. Mr. Young started several colts and show horses that went on to win World Grand Championships at the Celebration. He also won many Upper Cumberland High Point awards during his career as a trainer. After his retirement he enjoyed visiting barns while sharing his knowledge of the Tennessee Walking Horse that he loved so much. He especially enjoyed going to shows and supporting his son Randy.
