On October 21, 2017, A Strong Need For Cash was humanely laid to rest. The beautiful bay stallion was foaled on June 4, 2007. His sire was A Strong Dollar and his dam was Cash’s Moon Lite Bay. He began his training career under the direction of David Smith. Soon following he caught the eye of Michael and Casey Wright. They talked highly of the young stallion to Jim and Jeannie Roberts who ended up purchasing him.

Michael Wright and A Strong Need For Cash bonded immediately. From his debut in 2009 until his final show in 2016, the bay stallion entered the ring 37 times and won 25 blue ribbons. Those wins included three World Grand Championships, two World Championships, and two Reserve World Grand Championships. This energetic horse carried Michael to his first set of roses in 2011 after winning the Trainers Ride for the Roses World Grand Championship. This duo would get two more floral horseshoes including the 2013 15.2 & Under World Grand Championship and the 2014 Open Specialty World Grand Championship.

Because of his popularity, the Wrights and the Roberts decided he would be an effective breeding stallion so he was placed at Spencer Benedict Stables. As a show horse, A Strong Need For Cash was an outstanding ambassador for the beloved Tennessee Walking Horse. As a breeding stallion, fans just hoped for a repeat of his beauty, his energy, his persistence and his walk. A Strong Need For Cash will be missed by many.
