Officials for the Columbia Spring Jubilee are proud to announce the judges for their 75th annual horse show. They will be welcoming to center ring, Chad Adams, Robert Cortner, and Mike Hilley. This panel will mark the cards for this special milestone event! The Columbia Spring Jubilee will take place on May 28th-30th, at 6:00 pm nightly.

Justin and Rebekah Harney proudly announce the birth of their second child, Jonah Smith Harney. Jonah was born on Friday, April 23rd at Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Jack Harney is the proud big brother. The Scoop congratulates The Harney Family on their new bundle of joy.

SHOW HIO recently changed the SHOW rulebook to reflect a recent change at the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ & Exhibitors’ Association regarding the age of horses foaled in the fall breeding season.
The current SHOW HIO rulebook lists in Section 2 Definitions (A) Age of Horse, the following:
“For horse show purposes, a horse shall be considered to be one year old on the first day of January following the date of foaling. Exception foals born in October, November and December are eligible for classes along with foals born the following year.”
The SHOW Rules Committee, chaired by Carrie Benedict, proposed the following change to Section 2 Definitions (A) Age of Horse:
“For the purposes of exhibition, the age of a horse will be governed by and
determined by the rules and regulations of the TWHBEA.”

Mr. Howard Creed, 83, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on September 19, 2017. Mr. Creed was born July 29, 1934 in Springfield to parents Harvey and Pearl Creed. He served in the United States Army. It was there where he learned his lifetime trade of horse shoeing. He practiced in this business for over 57 years. He also showed walking and gaited horses for over 20 years.
His parents precede him in death. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara; brother, Leon; daughter, Teresa (Don) Jarvis; granddaughter, Monica (Eric) Fawcett; grandson, Tom (Kelsey) Myers; step-grandchildren, Erin, Heather and Chris Jarvis; and great-grandchildren, Finley, Landon, and Amelia Fawcett; along with many other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Phoenix Hospice and the American Heart Association. The Scoop sends our sympathy to the Creed Family.

In a united drive to aid our local shelters, the Celebration, local tack shops and the Tennessee Walking Horse industry, partnering with businesses from Shelbyville and surrounding areas will come together for the next 14 days to collect much needed supplies. The Celebration has designated a drop off area near Gate A during the show, while The Winners Circle, Bedford Tack, The Tennessee Walking Horse Museum, Corner Cleaners and Two Sisters Travel Co. will be accepting donated items during their business hours.
While many people assume that those TV commercials fund the humane societies and animal shelters in communities, the fact is that most shelters receive no help from any of the national organizations showing those “sad puppy “ads. In reality it is communities coming together that supply the shelter with funding and items needed for those many unwanted dogs and cats.
In an effort to provide the best possible care for the animals found in our community shelters, folks from the Bedford County Animals Control, Shelbyville Animal Control, Bedford Humane Society and Middle Tennessee Treasure have worked with the horse industry and local businesses to coordinate the collection effort. In the spirit of the “Walking Horse Trainers give back” program the entire horse community and our out of town visitors are urged to “give back” to our community that hosts the World Grand Championship horse show, The Celebration.
Items needed include dog & cat food, cat litter, Adam’s Flea Spray, dog beds, portable folding kennels, dog & cat toys, leashes, collars, bleach, paper towels, bath towels, trash bags, equine pine pellets/shavings, Tractor Supply or Wal-Mart gift cards, or monetary donations.
Along with the donations campaign, The Winners Circle Tack Shop will be hosting a pet adoption drive on August 28ththrough August 30th.
