Mr. J.T. Leech

J. T. Leech of Belvidere, TN was born on January 27, 1916 and passed away on January 30, 2010. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Leech. Survivors are his wife, Marianne Gray Leech; sons, Rodney Leech (Veronica) of Lynchburg, Jimmy Leech of Princeton, KY and a daughter, Rebecca Squire of California.

J. T. Leech is best described as a legend in his own time in The Walking Horse World. Winning 32 World Championships, numerous reserve Championships, and too many blue ribbons to count is a dream that most horsemen never accomplish.  In 2004, The Celebration inducted him into the prestigious Tennessee Walking Horse Hall of Fame, an honor bestowed upon few.  He was a judge, a member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association, a member of the Walking Horse Trainer's Association, and a previous director on the Board of Director's for the Trainer's Association.

In addition to being a great horse trainer, J. T. was a man of ingenuity, strong work ethics, integrity, and was a very prosperous farmer.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 1, 2010 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester, TN.  Funeral services are February 2 at Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. Johnny Bradford officiating.  A horse drawn hearse will carry JT to interment at Vanzant Cemetery in Belvidere.  Pallbearers are Jerry Beaty, Woody Woodruff, R. L. Hall, Jr. Holsomback, Ronnie Williams and Mike Dukes.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.moorecortner.com .
